Nationals manager Manny Acta has been fired. While NatsTown dances, his number 14 jersey lays in his office, ready to be taken away. The number 14 is an oddity in Nationals history, having been only one of three numbers from 0-59 that has never been worn by a player (20 and 46 are the other two). So, that being said, will a September call up or acquisition take this number in 2009? We'll have to wait and see.

On the Nationals active roster, of the 16 players who have been on the team for more than this season,  half have changed their number at least once.

In Nationals history, 14, 20, and 46 are the only numbers in 0-59 that haven't been worn on a player's jersey.

Joe Beimel wears the highest number in Nationals players history with 97.

7 is the most frequently worn number, having been on 7 different players. Tony Batista wore number 77.

All four players who have worn number 23 have been catchers.

Four players have worn number 44, two have led the team in HRs (Milledge, Wilson) and Dunn is well on his way to being the third.

Brandon Watson wore number 0 in 2007 and 00 from 2006 to 2007.

Wil Nieves has changed his number 3 different times (53, 83, 23).
